What’s New in Qualitative Techniques for User-Centered Design?
User interface designers and managers need to stay current with qualitative techniques for User-Centered Design. That’s why Tec-Ed has been presenting a new three-day course aimed at providing these professionals with a working knowledge of the latest techniques for gathering and using qualitative information during design.

Storyboard Storyboards: A Dynamic Storytelling Tool
Stories can be told in many different ways-word of mouth, written word, movies, plays. One of the fastest and most universally understandable ways to tell a story is with a storyboard. Storyboards also have an application in usability research and design. This illustrated paper by Ron Sova of Sova Consulting Group and Tec-Ed’s Deborah Hinderer Sova was recently presented at the 2006 Usability Professionals’ Association Conference.

Web Tool for Health Insurance Design by Small Groups: Usability Study
If you find evaluating health insurance benefits to be challenging, imagine evaluating the usability of a Web-based collaborative health insurance benefits planning tool. The application, created by researchers at the National Institutes of Health and the University of Michigan, improved with each iterative testing cycle and is now ready for widespread use. Tec-Ed’s Laurie Kantner described this experience at the 2006 ACM SIGCHI Conference.

Suzanne Cabana is Tec-Ed’s new Accounting Manager. She has over 10 years experience as an accountant and auditor. Previously, she worked for Dupont, Waste Management, and the Society of Automotive Engineers. Suzanne has a Bachelor’s degree from Central Michigan University and an MBA from Eastern Michigan University.
